What is NDIS

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is administered by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).

All Australian residents with a permanent disability or Psycho-social/mental health disability that has a big impact on their day to day life may be eligible if they need support for the rest of their life, or early intervention, to reduce the amount of long term support needed.

Each eligible person will have their own personalized plan developed (generally renewed each 12 months) including goals and funding for that person. Choice and control are an integral part of the NDIS in all aspects of implementing the plan, including choice and control over providers, therapists, assistive technology and more where it has been deemed reasonable and necessary.

About NDIS

There are around 4.3 million Australians who have a disability. Within the next five years, the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) will provide more than $22 billion in funding a year to an estimated 500,000 Australians who have permanent and significant disability.

Ava Care runs free information and pre-planning sessions for the NDIS. We can also provide one-on-one support to assist you through the eligibility process and help you compile the information you will need for your initial meeting with the NDIS.
